Piercing is a crossbow enchantment in Minecraft. It's one of the least common enchantments in the game since it can only be used on crossbows. However, this enchantment is extremely useful to players.
The piercing enchantment works by allowing a crossbow to shoot arrows that pierce through up to five mobs with one arrow, depending on the level of enchantment. Minecraft's piercing enchantment has four levels, and each one adds more damage and ability to pierce through multiple opponents. Piercing also stops arrows from disappearing after shooting through mobs, essentially giving the player an infinite arrow supply as long as they pick them up afterwards.
Piercing is one of the best enchantments for crossbows. It does a lot of damage and helps the player immensely in battles. But what can the player use the piercing enchantment for? Here is a list of the 5 top use for the piercing crossbow enchantment in Minecraft.
Minecraft: Ulepszanie, Enchanting Przedmiotów
Most players have tried out hard mode in survival Minecraft. They probably know from this experience that in some Minecraft nights, players can have hordes of mobs following them around. This is amplified in villages as well.
Crossbows are the main weapon of choice for male pillagers, and this may inspire players to use the pillager's weapon against them. This works best with the piercing enchantment. Players are able to shoot through Ravagers, pillagers, and other raid-associated mobs with ease. It helps Minecraft players finish raids faster and also helps players save arrows.
This achievement requires the player to kill two phantoms with the same piercing arrow. It's highly specific, so it's also highly unlikely. If any players are looking to get all the achievements in Minecraft, the piercing enchantment will help them get this one.
I Got Sword Earrings!!!
One of the best ways to save arrows is with the piercing crossbow enchantment. When crossbows are enchanted with piercing, the arrows don't disappear after the player shoots them. Minecraft players can shoot these arrows and expect to collect them afterwards, and theoretically have infinite arrows.
Piercing enchanted arrows can actually travel through shields in Minecraft. This makes them the perfect weapon to use against other players in Minecraft. Players can use these weapons on servers, or just in fights against friends. Either way, piercing enchanted crossbows are sure to do a lot of damage.Any Minecraft player worth their salt will have had some form of experience with crossbows, either by using one or being on the receiving end of one. The big question however is what does piercing do in Minecraft?
Before answering that question, players will need to know how to add the piercing enchantment to crossbows in the first place. Providing players have a crossbow to kick off with, they can add an enchantment on it named ‘Piercing’. How can players enchant a crossbow in the first place though? Here are three ways to do it:
Power Metal Warrior: Bio
Piercing allows arrows to travel through multiple mobs at once, cutting through anything from flesh to shield. It also allows players to have an infinite supply of arrows, simply find where the arrow landed to pick it back up.
There are four levels of the piercing enchantment altogether, with each level allowing players to fire arrows through one more enemy as the enchantments level increases. This means players can shoot an arrow through five enemies at once and then recover it, providing they can find where it landed. Arrows that end up in any other objects won’t be recoverable, so make sure to have a downward trajectory in mind for arrow recovery.
It’s also worth noting that anything else shot from a crossbow, such as fireworks, won’t benefit from the piercing enchantment. Another issue with piercing is that it can’t be combined with the multishot enchantment, which means players will have to choose between hitting multiple enemies with multiple arrows or using one arrow to line up enemies for the best shot instead.
Piercing Bump Or Infection?
However, a good workaround for this would be to have both the multishot and piercing ability mapped to a command to then work as expected. This would mean players can have an overpowered crossbow allowing for multiple arrows to be shot at once with the piercing enchantment. These would also be recoverable, but it would involve players cheating and using commands.

Still, the enchantment benefits the weapon considerably, giving arrows the ability to pierce through entities and hit additional ones behind them. This effect applies not only to mobs but also to shields that are attempting to block an arrow. The number of entities a fired arrow can pass-through depends on the weapon's enchantment level (the entities permitted to pierce are equal to the enchantment level +1). The arrows fired can even be reclaimed after they have pierced multiple targets.

What Does Piercing Do In Minecraft
Announced at Minecon 2018 and introduced into Minecraft during the game's 1.14 Village & Pillage update, Piercing as an enchantment has spent a few years within the game's growing collection. It is also featured in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and was included in the same Village & Pillage update released in version 1.8.0 of the Bedrock platform.
Crossbows themselves have only been available since the Village & Pillage update and are capable of being enchanted with a multitude of other effects. However, Piercing and Multishot specifically are not compatible outside console commands, wherein the crossbow will operate normally and fire arrows that both pierce and fire in a spread of three projectiles at once. Otherwise, the two are mutually exclusive in vanilla Minecraft and cannot be added to the same crossbow.
In all, crossbows are capable of possessing three total unique enchantments. Quick Charge, Multishot, and Piercing stand as enchantments unique specifically to crossbows and do not apply to other weapons are tools without the assistance of mods or outside alterations. On a final note, even though crossbows can be loaded with rocket fireworks, Piercing does not affect these projectiles when fired, and they will not operate in the same way in flight as arrows do.
