Das Helix Piercing ist ein grundsätzlich eher selten gewünschtes Piercing des Ohrknorpels welches durch die wulstartige äußere Begrenzung der Ohrmuschel gestochen wird. In der Praxis kommen allerdings sehr viele Kunden ins Studio, mit dem Wunsch, ein Helixpiercing zu bekommen. Beim Beratungsgespräch wird dann in über 95% der Fälle jedoch festgestellt, dass eigentlich ein Outer Conch Piercing (= Piercing des äußeren Ohrmuschel – siehe Bild)
Gewünscht wird. Dies liegt darin begründet, dass in den meisten Abbildungen im Internet das Outer Conch Piercing fälschlicherweise als Helix Piercing bezeichnet wird. Eine ähnliche Verwechslung passiert übrigens auch oft zwischen Daith-Piercing und Migräne-Piercing.
Sinnvoll ist ein Helixpiercing meiner Meinung nach nur, wenn als Schmuckstück ein Stift getragen werden soll – welcher in vielen Fällen mit einem kleinen Spitz (in der Fachsprache Spike genannt) getragen wird (siehe Bild).
