The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a string of car thefts at the online car-sales business Carvana, which has reported more than 30 vehicles stolen in the past three months from its site in Winder.
In early November, a sheriff’s investigator learned through the company’s loss prevention office in Arizona that 36 vehicles were missing from its storage lots located off Pierce Road and on Atlanta Highway in Winder. The two lots contain hundreds of vehicles.
On Nov. 14, Carvana officials reported finding five more missing vehicles valued at more than $130, 000, including an Infiniti Q50, Chevrolet Camaro, BMW 4 and two Mercedes-Benz cars.

In some cases, the thieves would simply take the vehicles to parking lots in Home Depot and Walmart in Winder and from there a truck would arrive and collect the stolen vehicles, according to Smith.
On Dec. 6, deputies received a dispatch that three stolen Carvana vehicles from the Atlanta Highway lot were seen traveling on Patrick Mill Road, according to a report.
A deputy responded to the area and although he did not locate these vehicles, he drove to the Home Depot lot where he found a Dodge Challenger, Chevrolet Silverado and two Camaros, all which belonged to Carvana, according to the report. None of the cars had license plates and all had engines cold to the touch, the deputy reported.

At the time of the report, deputies were not able to view Home Depot outdoor surveillance cameras to gain evidence on who brought the vehicles there.
Other reports show that a vehicle was recovered on Nov. 15 by Gwinnett County police after it was found abandoned on the side of a road.

Deceptive practices with car registration.. They sell you a car from out of state without doing an emissions test on the vehicle. They give you an affidavit stating that the car was sold from an out of state location and to have it notorized. The cars are registered in another state so if your registration expires it does not show that you have been sold a car in your state. You will have to wait until the process is complete with the out of state registration in order to drive your vehicle. If you choose to do it yourself the fees are 250.00 out of pocket. I am now expired on my tags even after uploading the documentation to there portal. The registration department told me everything was okay after I uploaded the information. A few weeks later they requested the hard copy causing a serious delay on my registration. If this isn't negligent I don't know what is . Now I have to pay for a vehicle I can't drive until my permanent plates get to me. I have never purchased a car and gone through this nonsense. They should be shut down !! Several other customers have gone through the same issue. Stay away !!
Not bad nice people but driving through is a pain as cars tailgate you and aggressively drive through, I understand that its a business but I really felt like I was going to be rear ended multiple times.
