Donald Pierce worked for the Transigen Project as leader of a paramilitary force called the Reavers. He headed security for the Transigen project to create new mutants such as X-23. When Gabriela Lopez escaped with X-23, Pierce was sent to track her down. His investigation led him to Logan; he was sure that Gabriela was seeking to contact Logan for help and asked for his help.
Pierce led a combined force of Reavers and Mexican federal police to apprehend X-23 when she was discovered to be hiding at Logan's hideout in Mexico where he lived with the ailing Charles Xavier and Caliban. Pierce led the operation to track down Logan, Xavier, and X-23 when they fled the compound and headed north.
Several days into the chase, Pierce led the Reavers in the capture operation against the children who escaped from the Transigen project. After having his bionic hand destroyed by Logan, he released X-24 to fight him. While X-23 was fighting X-24, Donald shot Logan in the back of the thigh with a harpoon gun. He attempted to drag him away from X-24 with his truck, but was overwhelmed by the children using their combined abilities and was killed.

He is a ruthless, sadistic and heartless enforcer for Zander Rice, and like his boss, he enjoys hurting others. He exposes Caliban to the light, and does so just for fun. He also seems to be protective towards Dr. Zander Rice, as part of his duty. He also seems to be The Wolverine's fan, as he tried to cooperate with him and find Laura through him, right before the moment of the chase. Though this admiration of his might simply have been a bluff or ploy, and he had no qualms or hesitation in mocking and hurting Logan, and his sheer cruelty and sadism extended to the children he was supposed to capture and anyone who got in his way. Pierce managed to find Logan after hearing about how he had killed some thugs in Mexico. He introduced himself in the back of Logan's car, telling him that he was a fan of the Wolverine. He asked Logan about Gabriela and if she had made contact with him yet but Logan told him he did not know anyone by that name. Pierce then told Logan he had been sent to retrieve Laura and gives Logan a business card to contact him in case he comes upon anything before being told to leave by Logan.
Days later, Pierce arrived at the abandoned smelting plant where Logan, Charles, and Caliban had been living. As Pierce questioned Logan about Gabriela’s death and attempted to intimidate Logan, Laura who was at the smelting plant and knocked Pierce unconscious while he confronted Logan. Caliban put Pierce's unconscious body in his car and drove him to the middle of nowhere. However, Pierce wakes up and threatens Caliban with a gun while the Reavers arrive. Caliban was taken as a hostage and forced to tell the Reavers of Logan and Laura's location. When Pierce and the Reavers arrive at the smelting plant, many Reavers are killed while trying to capture Laura. Eventually Logan, Laura and Charles all managed to escape.

Eventually Pierce and the Reavers managed to track the group down to a hotel in Oklahoma City. However before the Reavers could capture them Charles had a psychic seizure which froze the Reavers Pierce included along with everyone else in the Hotel with the exception of Logan and Laura due to their healing factors who managed to kill The Reavers and administer Charles his medicine allowing them to escape once more.
Following the group to the home of the Munson’s, a kind family who took in Logan, Laura, and Charles Pierce and Zander Rice decided to unleash X-24: a genetic clone of Wolverine in his prime. When X-24 killed the Munsons and Charles--Caliban using some grenades he managed to grab kills some Reavers and wounds Pierce with a grenade explosion. Caliban, himself, is killed in the process.
Later, Pierce and the Reavers go to the Canadian border in North Dakota to track down Laura, Logan, and the mutants who lived in Eden. Rictor is threatened by Pierce at gunpoint while Zander Rice appears and tells Logan about Weapon X and how he killed his father. Pierce later watches X-24 battle Logan but is killed by the combined powers of the mutant children.

Pierce is a seemingly charismatic individual as shown with interactions with Logan and admitting to the latter that he is a fan of the Wolverine. However behind that is a cruel sadistic who has no problem torturing people for information.is no typical X-Men movie. For one thing, it's reportedly Hugh Jackman's last, and it stars the actor as an older, slower, and weaker version of the hero fans have come to know and love. For another, it has a hard R-rating, and there's no F-word left unspoken or gory death left unseen. And then there's the matter of Donald Pierce, the movie's main antagonist. ), Logan villain Pierce is no typical X-Men Big Bad; instead of being power-hungry or filled with anger, the character is, well, actually pretty fun.
Donald is very morbidly playful, explains Holbrook, speaking via phone in early February. He doesn’t give a damn about Logan — he’s very playful with him... what other people hold to be of value, I think Donald’s disregard for that is what makes him fun.

For Holbrook, the most crucial element of bringing Pierce, the head of Transigen security, to life was making him as real as possible, even though he stems from the pages of a Marvel comic. Hopefully when you see Donald, you don’t see it as oh, here’s the villain, here comes the cliche, Holbrook says. Everything in this film is very rooted, which I think makes this film more of a character-driven piece. Everything’s established in the relationships and the values that all these people are holding.
And while Pierce may not have a villain's usual motivations, he does have one primary goal: to get Laura (Dafne Keen), a young, intensely powerful mutant, back in his clutches, for reasons certainly neither Holbrook nor I will spoil here. She’s an asset — she’s an economical partisan of my company, so I need that back, is all the actor will say of Laura. That’s a very big investment for me.
Far more intimate a movie than its X-Men predecessors, or most films in the comic book genre, for that matter. The movie follows a broken and battered Wolverine, who's forced to bring out the claws and get back in action when Laura suddenly arrives in his life.
