Bone end has a small ball on the end of a straight shaft to hold it in place. The ball is not removable. You push it into your piercing.
Fishtail is a straight shaft that you can bend yourself or get a piercer to bend. I do them in 17mm length but if you need another length, just ask.

Gauge is the thickness of the part that goes through your piercing. I use 20 gauge as a standard fits most sizing but many people like a thicker or thinner gauge.
Your order includes a polishing cloth that works on both silver and gold. It is easier to keep your jewelry clean than it is to clean it after it's heavily oxidized, so regular polishing is recommended.
What about gold? Usually a soak in warm, soapy water and a soft brush (works for silver too) is enough, but a dip cleaner is also a good choice for gold.

The gauge size refers to the thickness of the metal used to make the hoop or post that actually goes into your piercing. The average nose piercing and ear lobe piercing is 20 gauge. Average septum and tragus is 16 gauge. The higher the gauge size the THINNER the metal. So, 24 gauge is the thinnest and 14 gauge is the thickest.
The best way is to go to a local piercer and have your piercing sized. If that is not an option, then the standard size for a nose piercing and ear lobe piercing is 20 gauge and for a septum and tragus 16 gauge.
