Most interesting is to compare Knox Bible and Amplifies Bible. Knox recognizes not the 3rd Person but the Person as such, ‘man’. Does Knox go beyond Zecharia? Amplified Bible acknowledges the 3rd Person and capitalizes it, ‘Him’. The later adds clarity, ‘amplifies’.

Zechariah 12:10 Then I Will Pour Out On The House Of David And On The People Of Jerusalem A Spirit Of Grace And Prayer, And They Will Look On Me, The One

Amp Bible John 19:37 And again another Scripture says, They shall look on Him Whom they have pierced. [Zech. 12:10. ]

Zech. 12:10- In this verse God is speaking and says, And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son ( Zech. 12:10, NASB).

A. The Jehovah's Witnesses change the word me to the one so that it says in their Bible, ...they will look uponthe onewhom they have pierced... Since the Jehovah's Witnesses deny that Jesus is God in flesh, thenZech. 12:10would present obvious problems--so they changed it.

Prophecies About Jesus Old Testament

Zec 12:10 And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace or unmerited favor and supplication. And they shall look [earnestly ] upon Me Whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him as one who is in bitterness for his firstborn. [John 19:37; Rev. 1:7. ]

(KJV) And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

(Vulgate) et effundam super domum David et super habitatores Hierusalem spiritum gratiae et precum et aspicient ad me quem confixerunt et plangent eum planctu quasi super unigenitum et dolebunt super eum ut doleri solet in morte primogenitiIn my previous blog entry, I started to discuss the biblical prophecies, which I find to be very effective in witnessing to a Jewish person. I mentioned the prophecy which I found most intriguing when I first learned about Jesus: the prophecy of Daniel 9, which points to the time of Messiah’s death. Another prophecy, which I use very often, and find to be very powerful indeed, is the prophecy of Zechariah 12:

They Pierced His Side

The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem… And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

The Artist's Way Of The Cross: Claire Sievers

This prophecy talks about a time, near to the end, when all the nations rise up against Israel, and God saves Israel miraculously. Although some Jewish scholars may try to twist it around, there really is no other way to understand this prophecy but literally.

In verse 10, Zechariah is foretelling how God will pour a spirit of grace and supplication upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem. This pouring of the spirit will cause the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to understand something, which they didn’t understand until then; and the understanding will bring about a great mourning.

Dom

What will the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem understand that will cause such terrible grief, which the prophet compares to the anguish of losing your only child?

NgƯỜi LỮ HÀnh Hy VỌng: June 08, 2018

The children of Israel will look at God, and suddenly, the veil will be lifted (see blog entry about the blindness of the Jews), their eyes will be open, and they will realize the horrible truth, that they have pierced the God of Israel.

Imagine the shock, the horror, to realize after such a long time of vehement rejection, that in fact, Yeshua, who was nailed to the cross for the sins of the world, is God; and that by rejecting him for so many generations, they were fighting against his will… Their entire life was based on a lie. They were enemies of God all their lives… How heartbreaking their wails will surely be!

But after the mourning subsides, a new hope will rise, a new realization: Yeshua is the Messiah! We are redeemed! We are forgiven!

Ottc Zechariah 12:10 “look Upon Him Whom They Have Pierced,” Or “look Upon Me Whom They Have Pierced”?

“For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God” (Romans 14:11)I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. Zechariah 12:10(NASB)

God has not finished with Israel, despite false teachings stating that she has been replaced by the Church. While many hold to this type of 'replacement theology' or proclaim the 'kingdom now' teaching, both are unbiblical and demonstrate a lack of understanding of the covenant God made with Israel and the mission He gave to the Church.

Vita

God's promises to Israel are equally as unbreakable as the promises He made to the Church, which are all Yes and Amen in Christ Jesus our Lord. Speaking of God's never-failing faithfulness to His people, Israel, the Psalmist wrote,

Zechariah 12:10 They Will Look On Him Whom They Pierced

We will not fear, though the earth should change, and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our stronghold.

Because they crucified their Messiah, Israel was set aside for a season and during this Church dispensation has become partially blind. However, their spiritual renewal and national repentance at the end of the 7-year tribulation period, is the time Zechariah is describing, when

It is at that time,  the nation of Israel will be finally and fully regathered from the four corners of the earth. The kingdoms of Israel and Judah will be reunited into one, glorious kingdom under God's appointed King - the Lord Jesus, and Israel's spiritual deliverance will be accomplished, when they cry out for salvation (

The Gospel Of The Day: 8th June

The outpouring of God's Holy Spirit will be over the whole nation, both leaders and people alike. They will all cry out with one voice, in faith,

As foretold by the prophets. The Spirit of God will minister to their repentant hearts, cover them with His saving grace, and lead the entire nation to make earnest supplication to the Father - as they acknowledge their sins and proclaim Jesus as Lord.

The

No wonder Zechariah foretells that in that day there will be great mourning in Jerusalem. The land will mourn, and every family will weep, when they suddenly realise that they crucified their promised Messiah and anointed King. Zechariah tells us,

When Jesus Was Pierced, Why Did Blood And Water Come Out Of His Side?

They will see Jesus coming in the clouds of glory and they will see the nail prints in His hands and feet.

They will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him, like the bitter weeping, over a firstborn.

Their King was in their midst and He was ready to save His people from their sin. The hope of the nations had come to tabernacle with His people. The incarnate Son came to visit and redeem His people. The Dayspring from on high - Israel's kinsman-Redeemer, had come to earth to bring His people a knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins.

But they refused to repent and would not recognise Him as the only begotten Son of God, Who takes away the sin of the world. Had Israel as a nation turned to Christ for salvation on that first day of Pentecost.. the prophecy of Joel would have been completely fulfilled. However, the continued unbelief of the nation of Israel dictated that the nation was set aside for a season and Joel's end-times prophecy has yet to be fully and finally fulfilled. OH! individual Jews were saved but Israel as a nation needed to repent
