We run spore tests on our two autoclaves Statim 2000 and Statim 5000 (Do not hesitate to ask for our monthly spore test results). We use only single service needles, inks and always open packages in front of our clients. We strictly use sterile Nitrile gloves in all piercing procedures. We do everything humanly possible to ensure you have a safe and comfortable experience.
Jim Miller, alongside his wife Tee, is the owner of Krazy Kats Tattoos & Piercings. He has been tattooing since the early 80s and have worked and owned several shops throughout the US ever since. Jim is a very charismatic individual with a distinct red goatee representing his favorite football team Chiefs. Jim is a Kansas city native born and raised. In his free time, Jim like to draw, paint, airbrushing, and riding both his Streetglide and his custom chopper. Occasionally, you might see him and his beard flying around the streets in Charlotte on one of his magical unicorns, so don't forget to give him a wave and try to stay out of his way.
Downsizing? What's All This Fuss About Size?
Tee Miller co-owns Krazy Kats with her husband Jim Miller. She is our only piercer and as of 03/2015, became the first APP member of the Association of Professional Piercers (verify at safepiercing.org) in the Charlotte metropolitan and its surrounding area. Tee is originally from Viet Nam and moved to the US for college then graduated with a Business Management degree. Tee started her piercing apprenticeship in 2006. In her free time, Tee enjoys reading post-apocalyptic genre and play with her two dogs Bella and Ozzy.
Charles Brown is our newest addition at Krazy Kats since 2013. In his words, he was a hired mercenary but has given up the life with little paid gigs and not many travel opportunities as he has thought, so coloring people for a living sounds like a legal and fantastic way to earn a living. He does enjoy riding his Indian motorcycle everyday.

It's always a good idea to call ahead to make sure a specific tattoo artist or piercer is working. As you probably already know, downsizing your jewellery is an important part of the healing process. Once the initial swelling goes away, shortening the length of the post helps to avoid the jewellery getting caught on things and moving around freely through the piercing, which in turn leads to more comfortable and easier healing.

But what happens now that we’re temporarily closed, or all piercing studios are closed for that matter, and you can’t come back to see us for your downsize?
Some of you might think you can just purchase the jewellery from our online store so you can do it yourself at home… but this really isn’t a good idea, and here’s why….
When a piercing is healing it starts off as an open wound, and as it heals it will form a little channel of scar tissue around the jewellery which is what the piercing itself actually is. Your downsize is generally scheduled for anywhere between 2 – 8 weeks after having the piercing done, and in this time that channel won’t be entirely formed just yet and
Piercing Stories By Angie: Downsize
When we downsize your piercing, we use special tools that allow us to gently back out the existing jewellery and insert a new, shorter piece without leaving that delicate piercing channel empty at all. Our tools and jewellery are sterilised immediately before use, and just like performing piercings, performing a downsize gently and in a way that causes the most minimal disruption to the healing process is a learned skill.
At home you don’t have access to these tools or an autoclave to sterilise them in. This would mean that if changing your own jewellery at home you’d need to entirely remove the piece of jewellery and insert a new one without the use of these tools, which often will result in tearing/damage to the piercing channel.
Sadly, damaging the piercing channel leaves it more susceptible to infection, irritation and complications during healing. This is why we always recommend to never change your jewellery yourself until your piercing has completely healed, and downsizing is no exception!

We acknowledge that it’s inconvenient to not be able to downsize, and potentially disruptive to your piercing’s healing process, but never fear! Not being able to downsize your piercing isn’t the end of the world. What we would recommend is just to leave it be until we are able to reopen and assist you with your downsize, but also to be
The excess length on the barbell post won’t totally halt healing in it’s tracks, but will mean you need to be careful of the following things:
As a team here at The Piercing Urge, we have weighed up the pros and cons of each scenario and we’ve decided that potential irritations from leaving the long jewellery in until we are back open far outweighs the risk of downsizing yourself at home.

With proper love and care, not being able to downsize your piercing for a few weeks or even a couple of months will cause only minimal disruption to the healing process.
Should you have any problems or concerns about your piercing during this time we are closed, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are still here to help as best as we can!
Please note that to perform piercings on people aged 15 or younger, the law in Victoria requires a signature from both the child, and the child’s parent or legal guardian; who must be present at the time of the appointment. We will also require some ID to ensure that the parent is legally responsible for that child.

Both forms of ID must be valid, in date and in physical form. We cannot accept photos or copies of ID, and you must present them both in order for us to go ahead with the piercings.I know I am going back and forth when it comes to those blogposts and the language I chose to write them in. I guess I will decide to translate – at least the more important ones – in time.
When you come into my studio to get pierced, I usually tell you to come back for a check up appointment after two weeks. Usually I also tell you, that there is the chance that we can downsize the piercing directly at that point.
Well, with most piercing it is common to add extra length when it comes to initial jewelry, as the pierced area tends to swell up. Although I use high polished jewelry, which reduces irritation while healing, the body still reacts to a fresh wound being applied to it and a foreign object being inserted into it. Thus it reacts by a phase of irritation and swelling. We pick jewelry that leaves extra space, so the swelling doesn’t “eat up” the jewelry. We also want to leave space so the wound can clean out itself and flush out all the dirt and bacteria trying to enter from the outside world.

After a week or two the swelling is usually down and soon we can change to a shorter size, maybe even the final one.
Yes it will. We can put the top you decided on to the new backside and we also give a little discount with the first downsize. Even while still in the healing process, an early downsize is possible, as I use internal and threadless jewelry, which has a very smooth end. (Other than external threaded jewelry which has the razor sharp threads on the stem, thus exposing the healing skin constantly to its sharp edges.)
It is integral to insert fitting jewelry into a piercing channel, as jewelry that is too long tends to rotate and gets caught, leading to irritation. The movement as well as constant pressure on it (as can happen when being stuck or caught as well as if you sleep on it) can lead to the piercing migrating and ending up crooked. If you think of oral piercings, those can move a lot while eating and in the worst case chip your teeth when
