The tragus is the small piece of cartilage that partially covers the ear canal. If you’ve decided to have your tragus pierced, it’s important that you keep the hole clean and free from bacteria and infection-causing germs. Clean the inside of the piercing daily with saline solution. Wash the outside of the piercing with antibacterial soap. Proper and regular cleaning prevents infection and ensures you have a great-looking earring to show off.
According to Karissa Sanford, body piercing specialist, spray [the piercing] with saline a few times a day and try to keep it dry any other time than that. If you don't have a spray, soak a paper towel with saline and hold it against the piercing for a few minutes. Do this 1-2 times a day for 6-8 weeks.

To clean a piercing in your tragus, which is the small piece of cartilage over the ear canal, start by purchasing 1 gallon of distilled water and natural sea salts. Dissolve 4 teaspoons of sea salt in the gallon of water, then fill a mug ¾ full of the solution and heat it in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds. After the water is warm, carefully lean your head sideways over the mug until your piercing is fully immersed in the saline solution. After 7 to 15 minutes, rinse you ear off with tap water to avoid drying out your skin. Plan to continue cleaning your piercing like this twice a day for 6 to 8 weeks, or until it is fully healed.
