Study Abroad Pierce

Study Tours are a one-to-two-week study abroad programs for students with busy work schedules or family obligations. College is pleased to announce a Study Tour to South Korea in 2024.

To participate in Study Tours, students must be 18+ years old by travel date, in good academic standing, and have a valid passport. Please note that passports can take up to 12 weeks to be processed.

Professors Min Pak (Digital Design) and Niloo Etemad Sarabi (English) will lead students on a 10-day art, design, and humanities study tour in the cities of Seoul and Jeonju, South Korea. This program requires students to enroll in a 5-credit class that can be a Humanities 101 or DDSGN 170 class and will be on your Fall Term 2024 schedule (the study tour will happen between the end of Summer and beginning of Fall Term 2024). Participants must be 18 years or older by the departure date.

About Us — The Lex Fellowship

We will spend the first five days in Seoul followed by five days in Jeonju. There will be coursework before and after the time spent in South Korea.

Seoul is the capital city, filled with national treasures and traditional architecture. It contains five UNESCO World Heritage sites: Changdeok Palace, Hwaseong Fortress, Jongmyo Shrine, Namhansanseong and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty.

We will visit several national museums, including the National Museum of Korea, National Folk Museum of Korea, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul, and Leeum Art Museum.

Jeonju, in the Jeollabuk-do State, is known as Korea's food capital and was designated a UNESCO City of Gastronomy in 2012. We will visit the following sites during our stay:

In the event of significant devaluations of the dollar, some adjustments to program activities may be necessary. If there are any political events that might compromise the safety of the participants, a rescheduling or cancellation of the program may be necessary. If such changes occur, students will be notified of the changes and options will be presented.
