PORT ST. LUCIE—Residents in the southern part of the county no longer will have to drive 25-30 minutes to Fort Pierce to take a road test for a driver’s license.

Crews Tuesdaywere installing lights, fiber optic and electrical wiring andpainting thewalls. The county Building Department issued a certificate of occupancy for Nov. 9, but it will take several weeks to install the computer system, Craft said.
The new facility will have office space for the Property Appraiser, Clerk of Court andSupervisor of Elections offices and a substation for the Sheriff’s Office, Craft said.
